Overview

The Trashcan Lacrosse Preseason Mini-Camp at Episcopal Academy will take place over three Sundays (2/6, 2/13, 2/20) in February, 2011.  The Boys Preseason Mini-Camp consists of three age-specific clinics for boys:

- 3rd & 4th graders (U-11);
- 5th & 6th graders (U-13), and
- 7th & 8th graders (U-15)

The Girls Preseason Mini-Camp consists of three sessions for girls

- 3rd, 4th & 5th graders
- 6th, 7th and 8th graders, and
- 9th thru 12th graders.  

The Preseason mini-camp differs from the general winter program because the players will be divided into groups by position and, using a position-specific curriculum, will focus on the position skills necessary to excel during the spring season.  Each position group will have a coach experienced at teaching basic and advanced skills at that position.   The Preseason mini-camp is very reasonably priced at $75 for three sessions.  Spend February working with Trashcan and see the difference in the Spring!

Boys Curriculum

The Trashcan Lacrosse Preseason Mini-Camp has a position specific curriculum. The boys will be broken up into groups of:

  • offensive players (attack and midfielders); 
  • face-off guys;
  • Defenseman & LSM’s; and
  • Goalies. 

Players will work in small groups on position specific skills.  

Offensive players will focus on creating separation when dodging and shooting. We will refine and develop good shooting habits. Players will get a plenty of shooting reps and work on 1v1’s.   We will teach advanced skills like hitches, rocker steps, shooting out of roll, on the run technique, inside rolls, and question marks. Offensive 

Face-off players will focus on balance, quick hands, groundball skills, and different face-off techniques. The ability to have face-off wars with other participants will sharpen skills before the season.

Defensive players & LSM’s will focus on footwork, angles, checks & v-hold, positioning, groundball skills, and stick work.  We will teach proper technique for 1v1s, and for off ball defense.  Top-side defense is the standard at the Division One level, and our knowledgeable and talented staff will work on this concept and many others.

Goalies will work on reaction time, outleting, foot speed, hand drills, and refining technique. Goalies will get plenty of shots from the coaches as well as have the opportunity to get in the goal versus campers in various drills.

Girls Curriculum

The Trashcan Lacrosse Preseason Mini-Camp has a position specific curriculum. The girls will be broken up into groups of:

  • Defensive players (defenders and d-mids); and
  • Goalies.  

Offensive players will focus on dodging, shooting, and refining and developing good shooting habits. Players will get a plenty of shooting reps and work on 1v1’s. We will also teach advanced offensive skills and team-play concepts.  Coach Kilgour will work with the offensive group.
