This year we began infusing box lacrosse into our Trashcan Lacrosse curriculum, and it has been an awesome experience for all of the players and coaches involved in the winter program at Episcopal Academy.  Using smaller nets and box goalie equipment, we have found introducing the game and the skills used in box lacrosse to be very beneficial for developing our young players and their skills.  We have designed and implemented drills and games using the box nets + goalies that focus on defensive body position, stick handling, faster play, transition, off-ball movement, and shooting accuracy.  Please check out our video footage of our u11, u13, and u15 players enjoying an introduction to box lacrosse!

U-12 Team finishes Second! http://trashcanlacrosse.com/announcements/entry/u-15_green_team_wins_jersey_shootout_for_2nd_year_straight_u-12_team_finish http://trashcanlacrosse.com/announcements/entry/u-15_green_team_wins_jersey_shootout_for_2nd_year_straight_u-12_team_finish#When:20:00:30Z Congratulations to our Trashcan Lacrosse Club teams at the U-15 and U-12 levels for their performances in the Jersey Shootout this past weekend. The U-15 team went 4-0 in route to their second straight Championship in Jackson, NJ. The team yielded only 4 goals all-day as they were anchored by goalies, Jake White and Dante Moyer. The triumvirate of Chris Garino, Jack O'Reilly Dylan Sidoriak, and Timmy Ashman payed swarming defense all day and kept the opposing attackmen running to the sidelines. On offense, the player of the day was Griffin Flemming who pumped in 6 g and had 2 assists including 2 in the Championship game. He was supported by 10 different goal scorers throughout the day and clearly the attack group of Flemming, Connor Middleton, Jake Hvazda, and Ryan Terafenko dominated play. The midfield was tremendous at picking up GB's and pushing transition throughout the day. Benjamin Valdes, Joey Rodden, Jake Martelucci, Brandon Koppen, and Ben Nelligan consistently put pressure on the opposing defense. Finally, Christian Feliziani and Micky Chambers dominated the faceoff X winning almost 100% of the draws. This championship comes at the end of a solid summer season where this group of players improved every practice and throughout the tournaments during the 3 month season.

Join Trashcan Lacrosse Club for the 2011 Season!

Trashcan Lacrosse Club, 2010 youth champions of the Jersey Shootout and Tri-State Tournament, is proud to announce that in will field 2011 club lacrosse teams for current fifth through eighth graders. There are spots available for players in each of those grades. To sign up just download and return the registration form along with a deposit of $100. All players must attend one of the Trashcan evaluation sessions on April 10 or 17.

1. Evaluation Schedule

Trashcan Lacrosse Club holds evaluations for the purpose of placing kids on teams of similar experience and skill level for the summer season. These are not tryouts - every player who wants to play with Trashcan this summer is welcome. And every player will receive high-level instruction with a focus on skill development regardless of ability and experience. Trashcan will hold evaluations on the turf at Episcopal Academy on:

  • Sunday, April 10 - 3:30-5pm
  • Sunday, April 17 - 3:30-5pm

2. Practice Schedule

Trashcan Lacrosse Club is not just about playing a few tournaments, it is a program designed first and foremost to improve skills. In 2011 all Trashcan Club Teams will practice together ten times on the turf at Episcopal Academy. We realize that kids may have commitments on some of these dates and thus all these practices are certainly not mandatory. However, Trashcan Club players should commit to attend a majority of practices. The practice schedule is:

  • Monday, May 9, 6:30-8pm
  • Wednesday, May 11, 6:30-8pm
  • Monday, May 16, 6:30-8pm
  • Monday, May 23, 6:30-8pm
  • Monday, June 6, 6:30-8pm
  • Monday, June 13, 6:30-8pm
  • Monday, June 20, 6:30-8pm
  • Monday, June 27, 6:30-8pm
  • Tuesday, July 5, 6:30-8pm
  • Thursday, July 7 6:30-8pm

3. Summer Tournament Schedule

The highlights of the Trashcan Club 2011 summer season are the three weekend tournaments we are competing in. Last year’s debut Trashcan Lacrosse Club won both tournaments they entered, and we expect to build on that success this season. None of the Trashcan tournaments involve extensive travel. The Trashcan Lacrosse Club summer tournament schedule is:

Summer Slam, Newtown Square & West Chester, PA - June 25-26, 2011

Tri-State Lacrosse Festival, Mercer County, NJ, July 8-10, 2011

Jersey Shootout, Jackson, NJ, July 16-17, 2011

The cost of participating in the Trashcan Lacrosse Club for Summer 2011 is $725.  To register just download and return the registration form along with a deposit of $100. All players must attend one of the Trashcan evaluation sessions on April 10 or 17.  All Club participants may also attend any Trashcan Lacrosse weekly day camp for the reduced price of $90 (regular rate $275-$315). In late June, the team went 6-0 to win Jersey Shootout in Mecutchen, NJ. This team is comprised of players from several different youth programs who will be attending many different local high schools.
